HEALTH, SAFETY, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY

VALLES is committed to achieving operational excellence and delivering flawless execution by conducting our vessel operations and business activities using a risk-based approach in a manner that protects the health and safety of its employees, contractors and visitors working under its control and supervision. This policy is dictated and fully supported by senior management and applies to all employees, contractors and visitors.

 

To fulfill our commitment, we at VALLES will:

  • Use clearly defined objectives and targets to fix our HSEQ position and plot the course ahead. We will relentlessly pursue the goal of ZERO harm to people and property and ZERO spills to protect the environment.

  • Build and maintain a quality, healthy and safe working environment, supplying our staff at all levels with the means, resources and backing to perform their duties.

  • Treat everyone with respect and dignity, including their human rights and promote an inclusive working culture through leadership, training and mentoring to support open communications and improve morale and working relationships on board and with staff on shore.

  • Ensure that workplaces are free from discrimination, harassment, violence or retaliation of any kind.

  • Conduct our business in a responsible manner complying with the legislation governing the areas in which we operate. We are committed to be a socially and environmentally responsible company focusing greatly on quality, staff development, health and safety, and the external environment.

  • Comply with all applicable laws, standards, regulations, company policies and procedures. We will meet or exceed all regulatory requirements. We will design and build it right, operate it right, maintain it right.

  • Systematically monitor all relevant operating processes. We evaluate internal monitoring results as well as external input from industry groups, clients, press or auditors and always consider how we can improve our management system.

  • Communicate in an open, timely and factual manner. We employ a no-blame culture and encourage our staff to report any deficiency regarding quality, health, safety and environment so as to minimize both the likelihood and consequences of accidents causing damage to the people, property and/or environment, by establishing safeguards against all identified risks.

  • Educate our staff in accordance with our training requirements, continuously improving staff knowledge and awareness about the importance of quality, safety and respecting the environment in their daily work.

  • Ensure that our HSEQ policy is communicated and understood all levels of the organization through training, regular communication, and reinforcement during internal audits by motivating, coaching and developing personnel in effective HSEQ management.

  • Endeavour to minimize the impact of our vessels operations on the environment by taking into account realistic exposure to risk and the resources available to deal with it. We will systematically manage our activities to continuously reduce risks and improve our performance

  • Improve our operations by setting realistic and achievable performance measures 

  • Empower our colleagues to lead by example and promote safe behaviour. We promote a culture in which employees and contractors actively demonstrate personal commitment to HSEQ.

  • Proactively manage the safety and integrity of our assets by continuously applying proven protocols and standards

Our HSEQ Management System underlines the standards and safety system for work for our employees. The purpose of this Management System is to help our employees complete their daily tasks and return safely to their families.

 

The HSEQ Management System, including this policy, shall be regularly reviewed at management level at least annually, supported by regular on-board safety meetings, officer forums, and other formal meetings to ensure its continued suitability to VALLES operations.

 

VALLES benchmarks its safety, environment and management processes against other organizations and industry information sources. Benchmarking is an integral part of the improvement process and VALLES aims to match, where practicable, ever-improving best practices where appropriate to VALLES operations.
