It is VALLES STEAMSHIP (CANADA) LTD.'S policy that it's Safety
Management System is central to the management process and to thereby
ensure that each part or function meets the customer's (i.e. Owners
and Charterers) requirement's;
The Safety Management System is designed with the following objectives
in mind :-
- To satisfy the Company's own objectives in attaining and maintaining
the desired safety standards by providing for safe practices in
ship operation and a safe working environment, and;
- To meet the Owner's and Charterer's need for confidence in the
ability of Management to deliver a consistent level of quality
and safety as well as a - continous improvement of safety management
skills of personnel ashore and aboard ships, including preparing
for emergencies related both to safety and environmental protection,
and
- To try to establish safeguards against all identified risks
by complying with mandatory rules-and regulations, applicable
codes, and by taking guidelines and standards recommended by the
IMO, Administrations, Classification Societies and maritime industry
organizations into account.
This will be achieved by the implementation of documented systems
which provide objective evidence that the Safety & Environmental
Protection systems are operating effectively.
